Hi, I am Carlos Rene Castro.


Carlos Rene Castro is a journalist and photographer based in Salinas and Fresno, California. He was born in El Progreso, Yoro, Honduras, and raised in Salinas after migrating to the United States at five years old. He is currently a Digital Journalism major at Fresno State. Most of his inspiration comes from his experiences growing up as an undocumented child in the United States. His medium of choice is traditionally black and white photography because he can tell a story with a meaningful message. He has won numerous awards including the prestigious Lillian Disney Scholarship and Edward Weston Scholarship. He has shown work in galleries throughout cities in California, such as San Francisco, Sacramento, Monterey, Los Angeles, and Denver. Carlos plans for the future is join the United States as a Public Affairs Officer.
